Interesting News

    The South Korean press has reported that Kim Jong-il, the communist dictator of the North, has secretly traveled to China. On Saturday, South Korea's Chosun Ilbo newspaper said that Kim is believed to be on his way to a secret meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Siberia. If this is a snapshot of furtive high-level coordination between Russia, China and North Korea, then what is being coordinated?

    The advent of the Sino-Russian alliance coincides with a sly burst of diplomatic activity on all sides, underscored by North Korea's massive military buildup. Russia and China are also building their military power.  Imagine what the Russian leader will tell his junior partners. His call to battle might resemble that of Shakespeare's Cassius in Julius Caesar:

Ye gods, it doth amaze me,
A man of such a feeble temper should
So get the start of the majestic world,
And bear the palm alone.

    The Chinese communists, hating the Americans, might chime in with their own verses:

Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow world,
Like a colossus; and we petty men
Walk under his huge legs, and peep about
To find ourselves dishonourable graves.

    The wretched status of underling is hard to bear. The humbled conspirator casts about for weapons and opportunities, for confederates in the Assassination of his enemy. Putin casts his hungry glance upon the world.  He sees many possibilities for mischeif. Americans, longing for a Russian leader like Yeltsin, might talk of Putin as Caesar talked of Cassius:

Would he were fatter! But I fear him not: --
Yet if my name were liable to fear,
I do not know the man I should avoid
So soon as that spare Cassius. He reads much;
He is a great observer, and he looks
Quite through the deeds of men; he loves no plays,
As thou, dost, Anthony: he hears no music;
Seldom he smiles, and smiles in such a sort,
As if he mocked himself, and scorned his spirit
That could be moved to smile at anything.

    Like Caesar, we believe in our invincibility. "I rather tell thee what is to be feared," says the loan superpower, "Than what I fear, -- for I am Caesar."  To fear is to admit weakness, to admit weakness has weakness in it. Therefore, put on a brave face.

    The soothsayer calls out to Caesar, "Beware the ides of March!" And Caesar answers, "He is a dreamer; let us leave him." Such is America's answer today.  And like Caesar before his assassination, Washington D.C. is without options, caught on the horns of a dilemma. The two horns are: Israel on one side, the Muslim world on another.

    The Russians unleashed their war on Afghanistan more than twenty years ago. It was not a war of conquest, but a war of experimentation and penetration, meant to hijack a core contingent of radical militants. By slaughtering key leaders, by promoting secret agents in various organizations, a certain degree of control eventually emerged. Those who afterwards remained outside this locus of control (i.e., the Taliban), would be dealt with later.

To cut the head off, and then hack the limbs,
Like wrath in death, and envy afterwards;

    Russia wanted an effective anti-American force in the Muslim world. First conduct a probing attack, establish forces and counter-forces in previously inactive territories. Use radical action to create a radical reaction. Militarize the Horn of Africa and South Asia. Knock the Muslim world from its laziness, give it raw hatred and injustice to awaken it's inner strength. In this light, the communist regimes in Afghanistan and Ethiopia may have been temporary expedients -- irritants placed within a larger organism in order to bring forth a pearl of great price.

    Moscow realized that Islam was useful as an explosive. Seen in this light, the Marxist-Leninist regimes of Mohammed Najibullah and Mengistu Haile Mariam brought the raw explosive into existence.  Would it surprise you to learn that the KGB secretly supported the Iranian Revolution?

    But the Soviet empire collapsed!  Russia's Caspian oil was vulnerable.  Did Russian soldiers not die in Chechnya?  The Russian strategists might say, with Iago:

    How poor are they that have not patience!
    What wound did ever heal but by degrees?
    Thou knowest we work by wit, and not by witchcraft;
    And wit depends on dilatory time.

    Imagine an experiment in Iran and Afghanistan.  What would be more effective? -- South Asian Marxists operating openly under the hammer and sickle, or KGB mullahs leading the Muslim faithful along an anti-American path?

    And what's he then, that says I play the villain?
      When this advice is free I give and honest,

    Consider the dialectical method in this case. First you have the communist aggression in South Asia and the Horn of Africa, then you have a militant Islamic response producing a highly sophisticated anti-Western fighting force, bent on destroying Israel and choking Europe's oil supply.
    Are the anti-Western Islamists true believers or frauds?

    When devils will their blackest sins put on
    They do suggest at first with heavenly shows,

    What, after all, can the Islamists do to Russia? Assassinate a few flunkies in Central Asia? Tear apart Tajikistan and Chechnya, which exist only to be pulped anyway?

    Gratuitous Soviet aggression against Islam prepared the way for the current Middle East combination
. Consequently, a virulent strain of Islam has been strengthened. Look, for example at what has grown up in Sudan, beneath the flammable stuff of Egypt. If the British press was not grossly inflating the figures, we should make further inquiries about hundreds of thousands of Chinese "workers" in that African country. (No doubt a fitting auxiliary to the native Islamic troops of the region.)

    Meanwhile, at the bottom of the continent, the ANC expands South Africa's naval forces against some undesignated maritime enemy. This raises the following question: Is there a communist plan to simultaneously block the Suez Canal and the Cape Sea Route, to effectively control the Western points of entry into the Indian Ocean?

    A grand blockage of this kind would effectively isolate the Gulf oil from Europe. Economic privation would result in most Western countries. Could the "friendship" between the ANC and radical Islam be founded upon a Russian grand design?

    And what of Indonesia, an oil-rich country that continues to make anti-American noises? Split by Muslim factions and ethnic tensions, the country may be disintegrating, with unpredictable future effects.

    But this is nothing when compared to the trouble in our own back yard.  Venezuela is a major supplier of oil to the U.S. market.  On 14 May Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez  announced an alliance with Russia.  According to Chavez, "a strategic alliance has begun, with a joint path."  President Putin, on his side, spoke of Venezuela as "an important element in Russia's cooperation with Latin America."

    The goal of this alliance?

    Whoever control the oil controls the world. Imagine Japan at a standstill, imagine Western Europe with 100 million unemployed workers. Imagine the United States declaring every other week an "energy holiday."

    No television, no lights, no electricity. Just rioting and looting.

    And then imagine Russia being offered a chance to adopt the Euro, to become Europe's savior. Watch as the U.S. dollar sinks into oblivion. Then it will be America's turn to be sucked dry. As a matter of fact, a good part of our industrial base has already gone overseas. The process of stripping America bare has already begun.

    Meanwhile, back at George W's ranch, the American herd seems oblivious to the world's growing anti-bovine [read anti-American] tendencies. Mad Cow disease is not just a rumor.

    And note the growing anti-Americanism of the Asian tigers. That's what my Monday WorldNetDaily column touches upon. The world is slipping from our grasp; or rather, we are losing our grip. Secretary of State Colin Powell is no diplomat. He is more like an undertaker who makes the corpse of American global leadership appear as it did in life.

King. Now Hamlet, Where's Polonius?
Ham. At supper.
King. At supper! Where?
Ham. Not where he eats, but where he is eaten: a certain convocation of politic worms are e'en at him. Your worm is your only emperor for diet: we fat all creatures to fat us, and we fat ourselves for maggots: your fat king and your lean beggar is but variable service; two dishes, but to one table; that's the end.
King. Alas, alas!
Ham. A man may fish with the worm that hath eat of a king; and eat of the fish that hath fed of that worm.
King. What doest thou mean by this?
Nothing, but to show you how a king may go a progress through the guts of a beggar.
King. Where is Polonius?
Ham. In heaven: send thither to see; if your messenger find him not there, seek him i' the other place yourself. But, indeed, if you find him not within this month, you shall nose him as you go up the stairs into the lobby.

    A KGB officer may fish with the worm that hath eaten of a superpower, and eat of the fish that hath fed of that worm.  What does this mean?  Madness north by northwest perhaps -- and you shall nose NATO as you go up the stairs into the lobby.

    Soon the tragic ending will arrive, with Moscow acting the part of Fortinbras, who won a kingdom without lifting a finger.

This quarry cries on havoc. -- O proud death!
What feast is toward in thine eternal cell
That thou so many princes at a shot
So bloodily hast struck?

    Clinton had a hand in all this. Consider the sly damage done by his Middle East policy.  By raising unrealistic hopes of peace in the Middle East, Clinton seduced each side to expect more than was possible. Each being bitterly disappointed, each blaming the other with double venom, the path to war was laid. This was Clinton's work, the empty promise his forte.

    Poor Gen. Powell cannot stop the resulting explosion. If Chosun Ilbro's "diplomatic sources" are to be trusted, Kim Jong-il and Putin have crept off to Siberia to synchronize their watches. The situation must be heated, more evil ingredients must be added. The weird sisters of our age sit around their cauldron in Siberia, chanting:

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire, burn; and, Cauldron, bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble:
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

    The cauldron is being vigorously stirred. With a little more heat and a few more ingredients the evil broth will come to a boil. India and Pakistan will be set against each other; the communists will make headway in Colombia; Venezuela will become a base for Chinese missiles; North Korea will invade the South; China will blockade Taiwan. At the same time, watch America's home-grown radicals.

Scale of dragon, tooth of wolf:
Witches' mummy; maw, and gulf,
Of the ravined salt-sea shark;
Root of hemlock, digged i' the dark;
Liver of blaspheming Jew;
Gall of goat, and slips of yew
Slivered in the moon's eclipse;
Nose of Turk, and Tartar's lips;
Finger of birth-strangled babe
Ditch-delivered by a drab,
Make the gruel thick and slab;
Add thereto a tiger's chaudron,
For the ingredients of our cauldron.

    The Russians add and stir, add and stir. They use whatever evil things they can find. Of course, there are plenty of rich ingredients in Washington, D.C. And all of Russia's Middle East penetrations are not on the Muslim side.

    Last year I interviewed a former Soviet national who was groomed as a spy two decades ago. The KGB wanted to send him to Israel and he was trying to back out. He thought it was dangerous because of Israel's famed intelligence services. The KGB officers shook their heads. There was no reason to fear. "We and Israeli intelligence are as one," they told him.

    The KGB and Mossad are as one?

    According to journalist Gordon Thomas, former Mossad General Director Meir Amit (1963-1968) had a "working relationship" with the KGB. Thomas also states that Rafi Eitan, the man who kidnapped Adolf Eichmann and masterminded Israel's theft of U.S. nuclear materials a generation ago, was the director of a small shipping company in Havana. According to Thomas, Eitan "claimed a close relationship with Castro." (See Thomas's book, *Gideon's Spies: The Secret History of the Mossad, p. 72 and 104.)

    The Israelis have their own agenda, their own way of looking at things. It might be said, with justice, that Israel was always blind to the larger game of global dominance. It is a simple case of not looking both ways before crossing the street. Israel avoided the Arab bus only to be squashed by the Russian black sedan.

    This past week, with violence escalating in the Middle East and Egypt warning that things are approaching the "point of no return," one can almost hear the weird sisters in the background:

Cool it with a baboon's blood:
Then the charm is firm and good!
